Opening of Qutsa Clinic

Eastern Cape Department of Health (Ecdoh) MEC, Honourable Helen Sauls August has emphasised the recognition of women while speaking during the Opening of Qutsa Clinic in Mahlubini Area at the Cofimvaba Village near Mthatha on Friday.

Being the only woman sitting with men in front of a fully packed tent she stressed that the Senior Government officials including Executive Mayor of Chris Hani District Municipality and Intsika Yethu Local Municipality and ANC MPL in that more women should be elected to participate in Senior positions of Leadership to represent their communities.

EASTERN CAPE SUV CHALLENGE DONATES 100 TOYS TO CECILIA MAKIWANE HOSPITAL CHILDREN’S WARD

Friday the 16^th of November 2018 was like Christmas came early to the Cecilia Makiwane Hospital (CMH) children’s ward as the Eastern Cape SUV Challenge, Umhlobo Wenene FM and the Eastern Cape Department of Health handed over 100 toys to the children. The hospital was chosen because it is a historical hospital which has had the first nurse to qualify as a registered nurse.

Thuma Mina Outreach BCDM

The ECDOH has embarked on a Thuma Mina Community Wellness Programme to bring Health services closer to the people in the Buffalo City District Municipality (BCDM). The Thuma Mina Community Wellness Programme started from 1^st February to 08^th February

During the Community Wellness Programme, Health MEC Honourable, Helen Sauls August visited Ducats South (Ward 15) outside East London and Parkside communities in East London to deliver health services to the communities.

MIDWIVES ADVOCATE TO MAKE EC A HOME OF MIDWIFERY

Midwives from across the province together with academics from Eastern Cape Universities and Lilitha College of Nursing, Midwifery Students and District Clinical Specialist Midwives gathered at Mphekweni Beach resort from the 13 -15 November 2018 for the Provincial Midwifery Seminar under the theme “Midwives advocating for quality and respectful care in sexual reproductive maternal child and adolescent health”.

The seminar which was the first of its kind in the country was aimed at collectively assisting and contributing towards finding solutions to reduce maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality and making the Eastern Cape the home of midwifery.
